Our Community

TRUenergy Yallourn is again off to a busy start to the year in 2008 with two of its major events being held in February and March.

TRUenergy Yallourn Fun Run/Walk

Another successful day was held on Sunday 24 February 2008 with 650 participants helping to raise money for the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre.   Our thanks to all our sponsors who helped make the day such a success – a complete list of sponsors is available by clicking on the appropriate link below.

Our previous three events have raised a combined total of over $100,000 for the Centre – fundraising money is still coming in so we will let you know in the next week or so what the total is for the 2008 Fun Run/Walk.

Over 242 runners competed in this year’s event and a list of the winners plus a complete list of competitor names and times can also be downloaded by clicking on the links below –

 Moe’s TRUenergy Yallourn Jazz Festival

The town will be jumping over the Labour Day weekend in March during Moe’s TRUenergy Yallourn Jazz Festival!    Jazz enthusiasts from across the state descend on Moe to experience some great jazz music.   Nearly every venue in town participates in this fantastic Festival, including Moe Racing Club with a great “Jazz, Juice ‘n’ GG’s” family picnic day at the racecourse on the Monday.   And don’t forget the street parade, official opening and “big blow” in the main street on Saturday morning!

TRUenergy community support program in Yallourn

As a member of the Latrobe Valley community, we recognise we have a special role to play as a good corporate citizen and a responsibility to support the local community in which we operate and our employees live.

Each year, we support a large number of Latrobe Valley organisations, sporting clubs, schools and events. Some local examples of support include being the major sponsor of Moe’s TRUenergy Yallourn Jazz Festival held each Labour Day Weekend, the annual TRUenergy Yallourn Golf Classic and the TRUenergy Classic Singles bowls tournament.

We are also a partner in the PowerWorks Energy and Technology Centre - the electricity industry information and tour centre in Morwell.
