The 600 hectare Tallawarra site was purchased by TRUenergy from Pacific Power on 30 April 2003. The site was earmarked for development by Council following completion of an extensive Environmental Impact Study. A copy of this Study can be viewed at Wollongong City Council offices.
Development consent allowed TRUenergy to construct a 400MW gas turbine combined cycle power plant, which will be located on a small portion of the site that was previously occupied by Pacific Power’s coal-fired power station.
We are currently looking at option for the redevelopment of the remaining 535 hectares of land immediately adjacent to the Tallawarra power station development site. This part of our project is known as Tallawarra Lands.
