Stakeholder Consultation

Since purchasing the Tallawarra site, we have been working closely with the local community, including local government and agencies, to gather feedback, ideas and opinions on an appropriate, sustainable design for Tallawarra Lands, the area surrounding the Tallawarra power station development site.

Independently-facilitated community consultation continues as we progress through the urban design process. A key feature of this is our bi-monthly Community Liaison Group meetings.  In addition, we provide the broader community with opportunities for input through regular community information channels, including:

  • community information and feedback sessions at the Ribbonwood Centre
  • media reports and project updates in local papers such as ‘Illawarra Mercury’, and ‘Lake Times’
  • newsletters to 2000 residents within the vicinity of the Tallawarra site
  • regular updates to the TRUenergy Tallawarra internet site
  • the ‘Talk To Us’ feature on this website.

Consultation with the community has been extremely valuable, with topics of interest raised by the community including:

  • environmental protection of wetland areas
  • development of environmental facilities, e.g. boardwalks, cycle paths and bird watching huts
  • open space for active and passive recreational use
  • residential housing
  • cultural and eco-tourism opportunities
  • light industry and employment opportunities.

Feedback has been incorporated into the Local Environmental Study, and will be used to guide the development of our site masterplan, which will later be exhibited for public comment.  Specific outcomes of community consultation exercises can be obtained by clicking here.
