Where is the Iona Gas Plant?

TRUenergy’s Iona Gas Plant is located near the township of Port Campbell in South West Victoria. It is ideally placed for supply directly in to the Victorian gas market via the Iona city gate, and in to the South Australian Market via the SEA Gas Pipeline.

The plant is connected to the Minerva Gas Plant via the SEA Gas Pipeline, and is located adjacent to the Otway Gas Plant currently under construction.

What is the Iona Gas Plant?

It is a depleted gas field that was originally used to supply the Western System. The field consists of an open system, porous sandstone reservoir. The geological structure of the reservoir is well suited to the ongoing storage of natural gas.

Potential Customers

The Iona Gas Plant provides Retailers and wholesalers the ability to shape supply contracts to meet peak requirements and provides a hedge against spikes in the spot market price.

Storage might also appeal to gas producers because it allows production to remain flat whilst allowing deliverability to match demand.
