After graduating with a Bachelor degree, I started with TRUenergy over a year ago in Settlements (Back office). Settlements was a good place to start as it gave me exposure to different aspects of the business, including Finance - Operations and Portfolio Management. While enjoying my role in Settlements, I eventually decided I had a strong interest in risk management. I was lucky enough to be given the chance to transfer to the Risk Office (Middle office) to further develop my skills.
People working at TRUenergy are characterised by being open and helpful. The company provides a lot of opportunities for self-improvement. For example, I was provided training to build up my general knowledge of the electricity market, derivatives market, as well as computer skills.
I believe TRUenergy is the place to get people excited about the business – electricity & gas. It encourages its employees’ continuous development and at the same time adding value to the company.
My name is David Graham and I have just started as a graduate engineer with TRUenergy Yallourn. Over the 2005/2006 Summer I was a part of the Vacation Student program and enjoyed my time here immensely. I was placed in the Power Station, Stage 1 Combustion Team and I had many projects to keep me busy, including the writing of a new job plan for IDF motor replacement, troubleshooting problems with the oil burners and getting the CO monitors to operate properly.
The knowledge gained from the vacation program was invaluable to me as it gave me many skills that can only be learnt through work experience. The skills and experiences gained were especially useful in job interviews as I was able to show that I already had some real experience and on the job skills.
I’ve only been working as a graduate engineer for a few days but I’m already learning new skills and I’m looking forward to new experiences to be gained here at Yallourn.
I joined TRUenergy in 2004 for their first corporate graduate program after completing a Commerce/Business Systems double-degree at Monash University. I now work as a Physical Markets Trader within the Portfolio Management group.
Portfolio Management is an interesting and challenging area in which to work. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn and grow.
My fellow team members were a great support when I first started, ensuring that I had the training required to feel comfortable in my new role. I have now been working at TRUenergy for two and a half years and still find myself interested and challenged by the opportunities afforded to me.
